Choose Vegan -Campaign Inspired for Plant-Based Choices at UniCafe – October’s Vegan Rate Reached Record of 47.8 Percent

October at UniCafe was packed with tempting plant-based treats as we challenged our customers to enjoy vegan options for lunch with our Choose Vegan campaign. The campaign aimed to inspire diners to pick vegan meals and raise awareness of the benefits of climate-friendly food choices through our Veggie Quiz.

The campaign and October’s vegan options were met with tremendous enthusiasm: an impressive 47.8% of all UniCafe customers chose a vegan lunch during the campaign. This record-high rate shows that more and more of our customers are ready to make responsible choices when supported by varied menu options.

Throughout the campaign, we offered not only diverse and delicious vegan meals but also insights into the importance of climate-friendly choices. In the Veggie Quiz, participants had a chance to test their knowledge on plant-based dining and take part into a raffle to win a lunch package giveaway if they wished. We received an amazing 729 responses to the quiz – thank you to everyone who participated!

We held a prize draw among respondents, awarding the grand prize of a month’s worth of lunches, along with two week-long lunch packages at Myöhä Café & Bar. Winners have been contacted personally – congratulations to all the winners!

Choosing Vegan Matters Beyond the Campaign

A huge thank you to all our customers who opted for vegan options during October. Choosing vegan remains essential beyond the campaign – when enough people make a small choice in their daily lives, the impact can be profound.

Switching to a plant-based diet is one of the keyways to reduce carbon emissions and stop biodiversity loss. These goals are central to our missions at UniCafe. Our aim is for at least every second meal sold at UniCafe to be a vegan meal.

According to the Nordic nutrition guidelines, red meat and processed meat intake should be limited to 350 grams per week, yet research shows that Finns consume much more than this amount. Reducing meat consumption benefits both personal health and the climate.

So, make a smart choice when dining at UniCafe: every sustainable choice makes a difference!
